Augmentative and Assistive Communication
At the Speech Group we are able to provide assessment and advice regarding communication aids both low technology and high technology. The team has experience and training across a broad range of hardware and software technologies. The team has particular skills and interests in the use of eye gaze technology and use of Tobii and GRID3.
The importance of postural and seating considerations is always at the core of augmentative and assistive technology. The team aims to work with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure access to technology is physically supported. This can involve joint sessions/ clinics with Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy colleagues.
Assistive Technology technicians are vital in ensuring that the most appropriate and latest technology is considered with regards to High Technology Communication Aids. To explore how Assistive Technologies work please visit www.swassocs.com.
