Augmentative and Alternative Communication

At the Speech Group we are able to provide assessment and advice regarding low and high technology communication aids.

Our team has experience and training across a broad range of hardware and software technologies which help support patient communication.

Our therapists have particular skills and interest in the use of eye gaze technology, and in the use of Tobii and Grid 3.

We also aim to work with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure access to technology is physically supported. The importance of postural and seating considerations is always at the core of augmentative and alternative technology, and this can involve joint sessions/ clinics with occupational therapy and physiotherapy colleagues.

Assistive technology technicians are vital in ensuring that the most appropriate and latest technology is considered with regards to high technology communication aids.
